Yesterday I, along with a family of helpers, moved all my ‘stuff’ from the local storage unit to the garage on Easy St. Yes, I can be found on Easy Street at least some of the time. KrisP bought a house on an acre of desert, I bought a storage shed. Half of my stuff is ‘craft’ related.
Most of my craft ‘stuff’ is fiber related. Think felting, handweaving, spinning, knitting and crochet. Then there is sewing stuff. Mostly clothing, quilting, aprons and rope bowls. Next is paper craft stuff, for stenciling, card-making, stamping, drawing, and watercolor and mixed media paints. There is also ‘stuff’ for paracord crafts, journal making, inks and a ‘few’ pens and pencils. I have a cricut machine. Sewing machines and tapestry looms. Some are inspired by you tube videos crafts I want to try and some by other artists’ workshops. KrisP comments that ‘it is a good thing that I don't collect partners the way I do craft supplies.. i of course agree. One partnership is plenty.
Before the studio shed can land in the yard, we had to remove several creosote bushes. One of our neighbors named Bob saw us using a ratchet strap and my Honda Element to pull them out by the roots. He promptly went home and got his tractor. We together were able to clear space for the studio shed. Some rake work and hole filling will be done before it's arrival. The cones are approximately where the studio shed will be. Hopefully we won't see much of the neighbors' shipping container.
Finally, it is time for the studio's delivery. Driver Chris and his robotic wheeled fork lift were amazing too watch. Reminiscent of the ‘Short Circut’ movies. It took some skillful maneuvering , but he made it look easy. On the truck, off the truck, loaded into spot and leveled. Now we need landscaping! KrisP will have a plan.
Me, I'm over the moon to be off the storage unit wagon and so happy to have all my stuff under one roof. I just need to insulate walls and use fabric screening to cover the walls. Measurement will take place in the morning 🌄. Might not get done before we leave for the Summer. KrisP also is not a fan of the exterior color. She'll want it teal or some such color. Won't settle for teal trim, which I thought would work. She'll have to cut in for me.
This building will be off grid. Eventually it will be solar powered. For now we'll do portable solar with batteries we can lift and move around. A ground mounted mobile solar array would be lovely. The porch will have a chair or two and a small table. I'm hoping each craft or grouping of crafts can be together. As an example, felting, spinning and yarn would be together. Paper crafts, Cricut materials and book binding may go together. Stamping would also go in that area. All sewing, stitching and quilting would go together as well. Painting, drawing, and such will also be together. I hope there will be room for it all!

How utterly delightful to have a new permanent studio!! As a fellow artist, I totally relate. Have a fabulous time laying out the workspace JUST the way you want it!!
Congratulations!! How much longer are you hanging out? I am leaving Easter Sunday.
