Easy Street
It's Official, We Have Arrived on Easy Street
It's been a whirlwind of a month. Three weeks ago we looked at a small house with a marvelous porch and thought maybe!?! As of March 16th, KrisP owns a house on an acre of desert. Me, I'm getting the craft studio of my dreams. It is a huge adjustment being in 4 unmovable walls, though we have not slept over. Why no sleep over? No bed. No bed to come for quite some time, either. Why? Not in the budget and no road trip to IKEA in Las Vegas or Tempe.
We had not talked about a house, before this one grabbed KrisP. We had not ever been into the La Paz Valley either. One visit. She saw a teal colored door. We went to an open house. She came home and made an offer. A second round of negotiations and she had an agreement. Two weeks later there was a closing. Two days after that I signed an agreement to get my studio shed. Whew! A whirlwind of synchronicities.
My shed is pre-owned. This made it less expensive. It has double 3x3 windows in the front and two single 3x3 windows on the sides. It is almost 3 times as long as it is wide. The front porch will have space for a chair or two with a small table between them. I will have room to have each of the crafts I like doing, having it’s own dedicated space. I will have room for a fabric cutting table. Add two sewing stations, one serger, one heavy duty and the sewing area will be complete. There will be an area for gem and bead work, handweaving & spinning, yarn and fiber crafts, and an area for basket weaving, papercrafts, painting and drawing, and cricut creations. Finally I won’t have to pack one craft area up when wanting to make progress on something else.
The studio will be off-grid, powered by portable power stations. If I park my van near the building I’ll have Starlink connectivity as well. It is amazing space. Currently we are in the process of emptying my storage units in town. It is record heat in the area and we’ve already hit triple digits even though it usually happens in the first week of May. So up before sunrise, for coffee and a bite to eat. Then we load stuff into vehicles and offload at house. Repeat x1. Then lunch and rest in house till close to sunset. So far we still sleep in vans. Big decision is sleep in vans at BLM La Posa South or in driveway of house. It is a bit odd to have all these choices. Tomorrow will be 3 weeks from looking at a house to moving in. So fast it is surreal.

So happy for you both!
How are you ! This is Beverly from beading class ?
